Sue is an executive coach specializing in working with technology professionals. When it came to her website, she was crystal clear: keep it simple, low on flash, because — in her words—"IT people don't trust marketing." This was a great constraint to design within: creating something that felt genuinely professional without veering into the slick-and-polished territory that would make her core audience suspicious. I kept hover states on interactive elements super subtle, almost imperceptible — they signal that the site works without announcing themselves. For a touch of personality, I used a unicode asterisk as both a simple logo and a recurring design element throughout, giving the simple 2-page site just enough visual interest to prove someone thoughtful designed it, without crossing into flashy.
