What is the Asset Library?
Asset Library stores all uploaded images and videos (not PDFs — those are elsewhere)
Images upload here automatically from anywhere on your site — direct upload or added through a page/gallery
You can rename files in the asset details — use descriptive names for organization
No way to see which images are linked to your site — so be careful when deleting; deleting an image will break it wherever it's used on the site
Use folders to stay organized — suggested folders: template files (delete when done), branding (logos, icons), and project/category folders
Trash auto-empties after 30 days; you can empty it manually sooner
Broken image links happen when an image is deleted or renamed — you'll need to re-upload or remove the broken block manually
⚠️ Core advice: don't delete unless you're sure — since Squarespace doesn't show where images are used, organization via folders is the best defense
