Starting to work with Pages
Text blocks are one of the most-used elements — click to edit, with a toolbar for formatting options
Block-level settings include stroke, corner radius, padding, background color, blend modes, pinning position, and layer order (front/back)
Background color on a text block is useful for keeping text readable and stable as the layout shifts responsively
Pin to top — keeps the text block anchored while other content (e.g. images) scrolls alongside it; useful for description + image layouts
Enter vs. Shift+Enter — Enter creates a new paragraph (can be a different text style); Shift+Enter creates a new line within the same text block (same style)
Text formatting options: bold, italic, color override, scaled text (fills the block), highlight styles with animation, strikethrough, bullet points, numbered lists, indentation, and letter spacing
Scaled text looks great on desktop but can be hard to read on mobile — always check both views
Text highlights with animation are a nice subtle emphasis tool — use sparingly, best for headers
Inline links — highlight text, click link, choose destination; external links should always open in a new tab
Ctrl+Z works in Squarespace — handy if you accidentally delete or overformat something
Resize text blocks by dragging the blue boundary; red boundary means it can't go further
⚠️ Important
H1 rule — every page needs exactly one H1; make it descriptive and relate to the page so Google can direct searches to this page.
