Working with Gallery Blocks:
Gallery blocks are different from gallery sections — they're added as a block within a section, alongside other content, and can be resized on the grid
Key advantage of gallery blocks — you can mix videos in with images, which gallery sections don't support; add a YouTube/Vimeo link and it sits right in the gallery
Per-image options — add title, description, and a click-through link to each image individually
Four gallery block types:
Slideshow — one image at a time; options for autoplay, controls, auto-crop to uniform size, thumbnail strip, and background color
Carousel — horizontal scrolling strip; custom CSS adds spacing between images; simple and clean
Grid — uniform grid with adjustable aspect ratio, padding, and optional lightbox
Stacked — images stack vertically as you scroll; pairs well with a pinned text block alongside it
Stacked + pinned block trick — pin a text block or image next to a stacked gallery so it stays fixed while the gallery scrolls past; creates a cool parallax-style effect
Carousel spacing is handled by custom CSS in the template (same fix as gallery sections — Squarespace doesn't add it natively)
⭐ Core advice: use gallery blocks when you need video mixed in with images, or when you want a gallery to sit alongside other content in a section
