The four types of pages in Squarespace:
1 Standard pages — the most common type; made up of sections that you build and customize freely; used for homepages, bio, stockist, contact, etc.
2 Collection List pages and 3 Collection Interior Pages — special pages with a list/thumbnail view plus individual interior pages; includes events, blogs, stores, courses, and portfolios
Portfolios — interior pages can be formatted like a standard page
Blogs — interior pages use Classic Editor; more limited
Events and stores — even more limited formatting on interior pages
Collection pages are the only type that can feed into summary blocks (for pulling featured content onto other pages)
Most collections support tags and categories for filtering (except portfolios)
4 System/Auto pages — Essential pages within Squarespace like the checkout and cart pages. Very limited customization; you may be able to adjust some colors but that's about it
Core takeaway: the more specialized the page type, the less you can customize it — standard pages give you the most freedom; system pages give you the least
