Connecting a 3rd Party Domain to your website:
Two domain options — use the free built-in Squarespace subdomain (customize the name) or connect/purchase a custom domain
Buying through Squarespace is the easiest option — it connects automatically with no manual setup
Connecting a third-party domain (GoDaddy, Dreamhost, Namecheap, etc.) requires manually entering DNS records into your domain host
DNS records to add — Squarespace provides a list of CNAME and ANAME records; the A record IP addresses are always the same for Squarespace sites
Process: copy each record from Squarespace → paste into your domain host's DNS management area → add all records → refresh until Squarespace shows "found" for each
Transferring a domain requires an authorization code from your current host — watch your email for a confirmation request
After setup, lock your DNS so unauthorized changes can't be made
It takes time — records may take a little while to propagate; stay calm and keep an eye on email for any authorization requests
If stuck, search "[your domain host] connect to Squarespace" or use your domain host's support; Squarespace also has help docs
😬 This is the most stressful part of building a website — patience is key
