The four types of sections in Squarespace:
Fluid Engine section — the current default; grid-based drag-and-drop layout; add image blocks, text blocks, product blocks, summary blocks, newsletter signups, and more; adjustable grid, padding, background color or image; most flexible option
Classic Editor section — the older editor brought back by popular demand; blocks stack inline rather than on a grid; use spacers to control layout; useful when you need very precise, rigid spacing; can upgrade to Fluid Engine but cannot go back
List section — a structured repeating layout (also called a "people section" — found under the Team category but usable for anything); each item stays consistently formatted; good for timelines, team bios, process steps, stockist lists, etc.; can display as grid, carousel, or slideshow; can't add a blank one — must start from a prefab and customize
Gallery section — image-based auto layout sections (marked with an exclamation point under Images when adding a section); can't add blank — start from a prefab and delete/replace the images; covered in depth in a separate video
⭐ Core takeaway: Fluid Engine for most things, List sections for repeating structured content, Gallery sections for images, Classic Editor when you need rigid control
