GETTING STARTED
Domain Hosting:
Domain name = the URL of your site (e.g. dirigibledesigns.com) — purchased separately from your Squarespace hosting
You need 3 separate things: Squarespace hosting, domain registration, and email hosting
Squarespace offers domain purchasing, but you don't have to use them for it
Recommendation: buy your domain & email through a third party — this way, if you ever leave Squarespace, your professional email is unaffected.
Email options: Google Workspace or Outlook are common; note Google recently made it harder to import outside professional emails
If it's just you and simplicity is the priority, doing everything through Squarespace is fine, but if you need multiple emails for other users it can get costly using Squarespace for this.
