Problem with default Squarespace events — the list looks great but clicking through leads to an ugly, unformatted page that requires a lot of extra work to design
Melanie's solution — removed all click-through links from event listings; kept only the useful functionality:
Add to Google Calendar or Outlook
Google Maps directions link
Description excerpt with an outbound link to the show/gallery website
Past events auto-archive — once the date passes, events move to a "past shows" archive list automatically; click-throughs on past events are also disabled
SEO bonus — the native Squarespace event format is well-optimized; artist pages can outrank the actual show websites in search results
Don't want this setup? All the click-removal is done in CSS and can be easily removed to restore full page formatting per event

Simple text list page with title, info, and links (manual, requires removing old events yourself)
List section format — clean structured entries with buttons/links built in
Summary block — pulls in event entries and displays them; use any summary block type except carousel if you want click-through links to work
