Font Settings
Two levels of styling — global styles (affect the whole site) and page/section-level styles
Style panel is accessible via Website > Styles or the paintbrush icon; ignore Squarespace's preset themes
Minimum font size of 16px — smaller text becomes unreadable on high-resolution screens
Stick to 2 fonts max — more fonts slow down your site and look cluttered; bold, italic, and weight variations give you plenty of variety
Sans serif for body text, serif can work for headers — general screen readability rule
Font weight, line height, letter spacing, and text transform are all adjustable globally
H1 is critical for SEO — every page needs exactly one H1 that clearly tells Google what the page is about; two H1s confuses search engines
Header hierarchy: H1 → H2 → H3; Google reads these as importance signals, not just size
Paragraph 3 is suggested for small text like footer copy, captions, and policy links
Assign Styles section lets you tweak locked elements (e.g. newsletter blocks, forms) that can't be edited directly on the page
If something still can't be changed, it requires custom CSS — a more advanced topic
